Everything is always tip-top and tasty when the lovely ladies of the Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary host their Taste of the Town. The 33rd annual signature event, held Nov. 17 at UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center, was no different.
More than 300 foodies gobbled up scrumptious appetizers, entrées and desserts from some of the finest chefs, restaurants and caterers in the Greater Lowell area.
Back again by popular demand was the legendary and personable Susan Wornick, the Emmy-winning former anchor of Boston’s top-rated news broadcast on WCVB-TV.
And the winners of the 2019 People’s Choice Awards are … drumroll, please …
- Chowder Factory of Lowell in the Appetizer for its delish butternut squash soup
- In the Entrée category, Lowell’s Two Chefs Are Better Than One for the comfort food of Southern fried chicken over a loaded potato croquette with creamy buttermilk gravy.
- For Dessert, Sodexo the decadent Zabaglione with fresh berries and homemade whipped cream from Sodexo, with several local sites.
- And for the 2019 Chairman’s Choice Award for Best Presentation, again Two Chefs Are Better Than One takes the crown.
Congratulations to all for their culinary creations and participation, which will continue to support the Auxiliary’s pledge drive for the expansion of LGH’s Intensive Care Unit, especially the family corridor and healing garden with labyrinth.
