Jan 16 | Rotary Taste of Florham Park Scholarship Fundraiser | East Hanover-Florham Park - Patch.com

The Florham Park Rotary will be hosting its third annual “Taste of Florham Park” this Thursday, January 16, 2020. This year it will be held at the Twombly Mansion at FDU.  Hours are 6:00pm – 8:00pm. There will also be mini tours of the  110-room Mansion at 5:30,pm 6:00pm, and 6:30pm.

The purpose of this event is to raise scholarship money for Florham Park students who are Seniors attending a local high school, and who exemplify community involvement.  Last year's successful event led to the Rotary being able to award three scholarships.

The “Taste of Florham Park” event will be highlighted by private tastings of culinary specialties offered by several Florham Park food establishments. Additionally, several local businesses are donating fun Tricky Tray prize items and there will be raffled Door Prizes, including a gift basket from Lucy's Gifts valued at about $300.

Tickets for a Taste of Florham Park are just $30 and may be purchased at the Florham Park Diner or at Florham Park Liquors, or may be purchased on a first-come first-served basis at the event.

The Twombly Mansion, also known as Hennessy Hall, is the centerpiece of the Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham Campus. It is a 110-room Georgian-style summer home built for Hamilton McKown Twombly and his wife Florence Vanderbilt Twombly, a prominent member of the Vanderbilt family. Indeed those were two of the three people from which Florham Park got its name!

While most of the FDU campus is in Florham Park, with some in
Madison, many local residents have not visited Fairleigh Dickinson
University, ranked among “America's Best Colleges” by Forbes magazine
(2019).  Thus, the Florham Park Rotary and FDU are taking this opportunity to offer short tours of the Mansion. Tours will be at 5:30pm for early arrivals, and at 6:00pm, and then again at 6:30pm, and will be included with the purchase of a Taste of Florham Park ticket. After all, “the Mansion itself gives one a taste of Florham Park”, per Peter Nicolas, Rotary Sergeant-at-Arms.

In addition to the great food, beer & wine, and the Mansion, Florham Park resident Randy Callistri-Yeh will entertain with variety of background music on cello.

Great food, great venue, great entertainment, and all for a great cause!
