5 beer events to get your taste buds in shape for Super Bowl LIV - Channel3000.com - WISC-TV3

According to a poll by the Washington, D.C.-based Beer Institute last January, 76 percent of Americans intended to drink beer during the last Super Bowl. Further, 78 percent of those who intended to drink beer answered that beer was “an important part” of the Super Bowl viewing experience. So while NFL viewers everywhere suit up for Super Bowl parties this Sunday, warm up your taste for beer at these Madison events this week.

Monday, Jan. 27

Why stop at letting beer be the most popular alcoholic beverage on Super Bowl Sunday? Use it as an ingredient, too. Learn how to incorporate brews into your appetizer spread at Cooking with Beer: Super Bowl Ed at Delta Beer Lab on Monday. Led by Rachel Hanson of the web series Simply Fun Cooking with Rachel Hanson, this event will teach attendees how to make meatballs, beer cheese soup, beer caramelized onion dip and turtle fudge cake while indulging in a pint of a Delta Beer Lab brew. $30. 6:30-8 p.m. Click here for more information

Thursday, Jan. 30
Tap into your gustatory senses for Sunday and savor a four-course dinner at Lakefront Brewery x Jardin Beer Dinner at Jardin at Robinia Courtyard. Prepared by Jardin’s executive chef Kyle Cozine and served alongside five brews from Lakefront Brewery, this dinner includes a chicken pâté, a mushroom and onion soup, herb-crusted pork loin and, finally, a honey flan for dessert. Indulge in a great meal and, while you’re at it, maybe get some inspiration for Super Bowl party beer pairings. $35. 6:30-8:30 p.mClick here for more information

While it might be far-fetched to conceive of an ice bar in your backyard for any Super Bowl festivities, you can enjoy one at Cafe Hollander’s Hilldale location, which will set up a Cafe Hollander Ice Bar. With specialty cocktails to keep you warm, this event comes at the perfect time of winter. Temperatures are consistently low enough to maintain the icy structure, and it makes a great excuse for Madisonians to do something fun that draws them out of hibernation for a night. The beverage menu will include wintery creations made from spirits including gin and Wondermint from Death’s Door Distillery, as well as Limousin Rye from Dancing Goat Distillery and more. 4-5 p.m. Click here for more information

beer assortment

As part of Garth’s Brew Bar’s celebration of International Gruit Day, Herbiery Brewing’s ginger lager and coconut milk stout will be on tap, while various cans of hopless beers will also be available. (Photo courtesy of Garth’s Brew Bar)

While cans from MillerCoors or Aneuser-Busch tend to be cracked during the NFL season, Garth’s Brew Bar offers unique and harder-to-find craft beers. Gruit, a hopless beer style, will be featured among other beer styles served at Garth’s on Saturday for International Gruit Day. Herbiery Brewing’s ginger lager and coconut milk stout will be on tap, in addition to a limited stock of a canned Sage Witbier. So hop on over to the Monroe Street location, which opened last fall, and try some beers sans hops. Noon-midnight. Click here for more information

Sunday, Feb. 2
And when the day finally arrives, if you’re still in need of last-minute hors d’oeuvres or ingredients, head to the K4 taproom for its Winter Pop Up Market. Buy from local vendors while enjoying a delicious Karben4 beer to take care of those party needs under the wire. The market will take place the first Sunday of each month, so stop in on future weekends for more local finds. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Click here for more information
